Ophthalmologist
Dr. Peter A. Shriver received his medical degree in 1985 from the University of New England and became board certified in Ophthalmology in 1994. He specialized in cornea and refractive surgery and has primarily dedicated his practice to refractive laser procedures. He is one of a select few eye surgeons who has received full fellowship training in surgery of the cornea, the external window of the eye, and refractive surgery, which corrects the eye’s ability to focus. During his fellowship at the University of California, California College of Medicine, Dr. Shriver was selected as the Beckman Laser Fellow at the world-renowned Beckman Laser Institute, recognized as one of the world’s premier centers of biomedical laser research.
Dr. Shriver took part in the original FDA trials for LASIK approval and has performed over 10,000 LASIK procedures. His LASIK treatments include many VIP’s – fellow eye doctors, surgeons, Hall of Fame athletes, Special Forces personnel, and news anchors. Dr. Shriver also performed LASIK surgery on members of his own family. Both Dr. Shriver and his wife have had LASIK. Since 1991, Dr. Shriver has been an invited national lecturer on the Excimer laser and laser vision correction. He routinely teaches and proctors other Ophthalmologists in basic and advanced techniques on refractive procedures and LASIK in Connecticut, New England, and the United States.
